Baking Contests

Put your baking to the test at this year’s fair! Enter an apple pie, angel food cake, and/or chocolate cake. Win and send your recipe to the PA Farm Show in January 2027. See rules below for each contest.

Whoopie Pie Contest

Rules:

1. Open to Youth and Adult.

2. One entry per person.

3. Entry must be brought to the Clubhouse during exhibit drop-off times.

4. Whoopie pies must be made from scratch by the contestant.

5. Any flavor combination is acceptable. They do not have to be chocolate and vanilla.

6. Contestant will bring 6 pies on a disposable plate* and may be individually wrapped. After judging, any remaining pies will be sold at the Baked Goods auction on Tuesday.

*Franklin County Fair is not responsible for returning any dishes or plates.

7. Whoopie pies will be judged on the following:

a. Overall Appearance 10 points

b. Taste of Cookie 10 points

c. Taste of Filling 10 points

d. Texture of Cookie 10 points

e. Texture of Filling 10 points

f. Creativeness 10 points

8. Prizes will be awarded to the contestant with the highest number of points. Highest total point score is 60.

Coloring Contest

You’re never too old to color! New this year, we’ve expanded the coloring contest to include adults!

Section 8 - Coloring Contest

Chairperson: Laine Hess

Rules:

1. Open to Youth and Adult.

2. One entry per person. Exhibitor must be a resident of PA.

3. Entry must be brought to the Clubhouse during exhibit drop-off times.

4. Crayons and colored pencil are acceptable.

5. Class entered is by age as of the date of entry.

6. Entries must be submitted using the official coloring page provided for your age group. See coloring pages beginning on page 40.

7. Coloring pages must include exhibitor name and age. Any pages not including that information will be disqualified.

PSACF Special Apron Contest - Showcasing Fairs & Carnivals

Rules:

1. Open to Youth and Adult.

2. One entry per person. Exhibitor must be a resident of PA.

3. Entry must be brought to the Clubhouse during exhibit drop-off times.

4. Primary fabric should be themed material showcasing fairs and/or carnivals.

5. Apron Type: half apron or bib apron.

6. Apron must have been made in 2026 by the exhibitor.

7. Aprons will be judged on the following:

a. Overall Appearance - 25 points

b. Creativity - 25 points

c. Workmanship/Suitability - 30 points

d. Design/Color - 20 points

8. First place winner in the Adult class will be eligible to enter their apron in the 2027 PA State Farm Show Contest.
